Whats with Mixcloud

Everyone report to your computers it's that time. Welcome to distribution through apps we are here with a new topic. Now I'm not sure If any of you are familiar with Mixcloud but I would suggest you get to know it and really soon. Mixcloud is a music platform used to stream mixes and allows people to follow the content provider (following the trend of social media of using a different system from the old fashion adding of friends one). If you're wondering how big this thing is becoming well I'll tell you this it has an app and third party programmers even went into development to make basically a hack for it.

Mix Loader for Mixcloud was created with the intent to allow people to be able to download the content that they desire from Mixcloud.com. The app is to be used in conjunction with the official Mixcloud app so that it can gain access to the target content. All in all I think this is a website that you all should take a look at and download both of the apps mentioned. The apps tend to have minor flaws that are being worked out and updates are being released.

I want to thank all of you all for tuning in to this post of distribution through apps. It has really been a great couple of weeks and each one of your comments are appreciated so don't be shy leave a comment. Until next time everybody enjoy life.

Let's talk vine

Google Drive pt2

Hello wonderful world that is filled with love and compassion its that time of the week. Distribution Through Apps is here ready to cover a topic. Over the last couple of weeks we have reviewed some great things but that doesn't mean we can't kick it up a notch so after today's post we are going to "Turn Up" as they say now a days.
Focusing on today we are going to finish the discussion that was started last week on the Google Drive app. As stated the Drive app allows the user to store large sums of data compared to regular emails and such. With the use of Drive media files can be transported to others when in a pinch. A great example would be a few semesters ago when i had to turn in a very important paper for a class and a video for a final. The things were do on a Saturday with the only option at that point to send it in through email. I attempted to loaded the video from my hard drive into an email but yielded no positive results. With time boiling down I noticed Gmail asking me the question if i wanted to use Drive to send the file. I wouldn't have thought I would learn how use full Drive is in that moment.
This great power while on the go has dramatically change the way that I do things. This is an app that i would recommended to all people that are trying to collaborate with people across the world.

Google drive

Gmail pt2

Hello I hope everyone is doing well and had a nice fulfilled week. Today we will pick up where we left off on gmail and hopefully make things clearer for those that might have been confused on what I was suggesting in the vlog that is part one too this post. The gmail app gives you direct connectivity with your gmail account allowing you to access emails on the go. One could not only check for new emails but sift through old email in case of needing information that was sent to you a while back. The app also gives the user the possibility to send emails out if the mobile device is connected to the internet in some way such as WiFi or mobile network that you may be paying for.
This is most helpful (in my opinion) when in the need to send files that contain media to people when I don't have the luxury of sitting at a computer. In recent weeks this has most definitely been the case for me, waking up early to emails from promoters needing files while I'm pressed for time to leave the house. The app allows you basically the same freedoms that you would have if you were logged in on a computer meaning you can send things out to those on you email list while on the go in mass quantities if needed.
I believe many people can find a use for this app as an example my teacher, who you wouldn't consider the most pro apps, checks her email at times using the app to see if any of her wonderful students need to contact her for help. For know that is all we will talk about, look forward to next time where I will be talking about other apps that Google offers that can be used by media creator to push more media into the world.

Gmail Part 1

Past Week

It's now that time you all have been waiting for! Yes yes thank you all my loyal friends it is that time. The great post everyone has been waiting for brought to you by me. I really do appreciate all of you other wise I would be blogging to know one. this week we here at distribution through apps did something special and held a presentation spreading the knowledge of the power apps contain and how often we partake in the use of them. We keep it to about 30 minutes but still was able to provide the crowd a method to getting their great media out into the world.
The event was held at a college in Chicago Illinois in a classroom full of eager students ready to learn. During the event a special exercise was used to help get the students use to the great things apps can do. The instructions were very simple and easy to follow. They were asked to pull out a mobile device if possible that have app capabilities and to share some sort of media on Facebook. This seemed to spark deal of interest from the students (or at least i would like to think so ). Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the event so that's what matters. Hopefully in the future special events like this happen more often. Apps are great ways to distribute media to the far ends of the globe and I feel everyone should use them. To make that happen would be a dream come true.

What I Did Today

Hello hello hello my people I hope everyone is doing alright. If you are reading this then I'm glad you can make it! Today has been a long day full of alot of adventure leading all the way to this point. Now I know what you're wondering, what does my busy adventures have to do with apps? Well that is a great question seeing how my day was spent using twitter and snapchat to promote media content. I causally (like many people should) took pictures while I was in the studio with my friend who just played for fifteen hundred people two day before. I turned what should have been a regular moment with one of my best friends since the 6th grade into a promotional moment.

We both turned our sights to social media using our phone and tablet apps to post. We notified our fans of our location and informed them that we were working on material. Use apps to stay connected and keep the world updated! This is very important especially if people want to know (except for stalkers and stuff of course). This could be the difference between being fanless and having a steady fan base that is willing to view your media content when it is released. We have all this social apps out on the market so I ask why don't you use them? Use the tools that have been created and propel yourself forward in this socially active world. Thank you all for tuning in enjoy your nights and I look forward to talking to you all in the future.

Apps & Me

Hello my fellow humans it is yet another great wonderful day. The sun is shining birds are flying and technology is still everywhere. I would hope you're outside enjoying the weather while reading this on the blogger app (shameless plug to support the app). I am here today yet again to talk to you about apps! Now I know that everyone enjoyed the surprise audio interview I did but we can get too wrapped up in the past there is plenty more to come.

We have covered Facebook and soundclouds apps so lets move on to other great things. I want to take some time and reveal the top 2 apps that I use to obtain media. You all should be excited and I know you are, in this countdown I will let you all in on another big secret. I will explain why I use them and what mainly for so you should feel lucky to get a small glimpse into my life.

Hulu plus - I use this app to stream Media from Tv shows to movie trailers. The content providers made it so easy to view i feel it would be a disservice to not watch a wide range of martial.

YouTube - I use this app at least once a day ever since this school semester started for me. Now to a lot of you all at least once a day seems like a small number but being in school most of the day in front of a computer there really isn't much time it is needed. Even with that fact it is actually the first thing i do when i wake up in the morning. I grab my tablet, plug into my speakers and play music using the app in surround sound.

Feel free to leave your top 2 apps in the comments!

Lets talk...

Hello everyone it is that time again, another post to inform you on apps. I have already addressed the soundcloud app with you all so i know you have to be asking yourself whats next? Well with all good questions you can fully believe there is a good answer just waiting for you! So let's talk instagram, how do you use it? When i ask that I'm not asking you for instructions I'm telling you to step back and think a bit.

Put real thought into how often you use it and for what purposes. Do you add pictures often or do you just follow others? If you post picture have you ever thought of the term product placement? I mean think about it, you may have people following you that don't know about your product that you've been promoting be it a movie, music, a news blog what ever type of media. Post a picture with something related to it in. I like to think of this as a way to ninja your product into your followers brains. This is a great way to push your product on top of the marketing plan I trust you are already doing.

Don't have an instagram? Well I won't say that it's the end of the world but I do want to say that a new trend is visuals, visuals, visuals meaning that having accounts on social media site that revolve around that might not be such a bad idea, even if you are just a blogger who types words for days.
Lets talk the Soundcloud app!!

Big Use Last Year

Last year the use of apps to distribute music made big headlines thanks to a few big name artists. Shawn Corey Carter better known by his stage name Jay-z or other aliases scored big last year signing a deal with Samsung and getting an app dedicated to him and his project that was scheduled to release. The Magna Carta Holy Grail app was used to give out one million free copies of the album before it even was officially released. To get the app it was required that you had on of the newer galaxy mobile devices which left a lot of people out of luck.

This power move showed just what apps are capable of as far as music distribution goes. His app “broke” in his own words from the over request of people hitting download in a frantic trying to get a copy. Another great example from the previous year would also be the queen, the mother of all little monsters Lady Gaga.  She released her app in promotion of her project Artpop that released on November 6. The Artpop app allowed for the uses to create their own art and buy her album through a feature.

In both cases the project that was released hit number one on the billboard charts. Because of this I’m sure in the next upcoming years it will become more and more common for artist to get their own dedicated apps for their albums. The first step of course would be to come up with an idea to prevent the situation that Jay-z ran into.

First Post

Greetings my tech and music fans this is the first of many post to come. Today is a great wonderful day for this is the start of world domination! Ok maybe not but it is the start of a great blog designed to take up all of your free time when your not making music, looking at the newest artist coming out of you local area, eating and/or playing with your smart phone instead of building your career.

I’m sure I can speak for many serious artists when I say distribution and promotion are important but not always fun. For a lot of artist that are always on the run sitting at a computer all day isn't always possible, so here’s a great idea use mobile apps. Apps aren't the next big thing they are the big thing. There are hundreds of thousands of apps out on the market today so why not make use the ones designed to do what you need and distribute your music. I know that sounds like a radical new idea to some but many are already doing it so why be behind the curve?
If you don’t know where to start than today you're in luck! You have journeyed to the right spot on the interwebs. I will be doing reviews of apps and talks about some of the biggest uses of apps for distribution at least 2 times a week. If you’re as excited as I am and are wondering how to get updates on the regular about my post then I will tell you. Subscribe! Yes it’s that easy; I look forward to your comments and opinions thanks.
